Overview:

Cost savings are in ST Solutions’ DNA.  What sets us apart from the competition is our ability to pay attention to the details and design solutions that result in big savings for the customer.  A loyal customer presented us with a unique, out-of-the-box challenge related to their facility and the resulting maintenance.  The site’s waste water process was causing excess spending due to costly disposal fees.  We recommended an environmentally conscious alternative that resulted in huge savings.

Problem:

The solutions we provide our customers aren’t always specific to tooling.  ST Solutions built a unique relationship over time with our customer.  We have provided a large volume of their cutting tools for years.  At an informal lunch meeting, the customer voiced their concerns about the plant’s excessive water bills.  For the past 15 years, the site had dumped waste water into the city’s sewage system, and they were spending roughly $20,000 per month in waste water fees. 

Solution:

We heard this customer’s concerns and, as a committed partner, offered a valuable solution; the design and implementation of a reverse osmosis water purification system inside the facility.  After an initial investment of $170,000, the customer saved $240,000 in the first year, immediately resulting in major cost savings.  The new water purification system is expected to last 10 years, totaling nearly $2.4 million in cost savings over a decade.  As an added benefit, the client has plans to install a 5,000 gallon fish tank filled with the treated waste water in the lobby of their facility.  This unique lobby feature will illustrate the customer’s commitment to reduced waste and the conservation of energy.
